FM On Demand with Tara Fitzpatrick: A grassfed beef ranch and a K-12 foodservice program team up in Colorado

Teton Waters Ranch has focused on K-12 and developed products for kids—including blended beef hot dogs with veggies—working with Loveland’s Thompson School District to fine tune the recipes and get real-time, honest kid feedback.

On this episode of FM On Demand with Tara Fitzpatrick, we’re talking with a rancher and a school foodservice professional, a duo that’s working together to get healthier, better-for-you grassfed beef into schools. It’s tricky, because of the cost, but hopefully partnerships like this will bring more opportunities for better, more humanely raised beef to get into schools.

The K-12 pro from Thompson School District, Director of Nutrition Services Lisa Kendall, SNS, shares what it’s like to work with a rancher, the challenges and wins, and also how kids in Colorado are eating these days. The rancher, CEO of Teton Waters Ranch & Grass Fed Foods  Jeff Tripician, talks about his “why” for getting into this business market, as it’s not really a money-maker for him. Turns out there’s more to life at this ranch than profit and loss! What a refreshing notion, and an inspiring one, too.
